Scotland

The Edinburgh Military Tattoo was first performed in 1950 as the Army’s contribution to the Edinburgh Music Festival. Today, with its unique blend of music, ceremony, entertainment and theatre, set against the backdrop of Edinburgh Castle, it is without doubt one of the world’s greatest shows. The sight of the massed pipes and drums of the Scottish regiments and the Lone Piper high on the castle battlements are lasting memories of a wonderful evening’s entertainment.

Dating from the early 1800’s the popular holiday resort of Troon is situated on the beautiful Ayrshire coast of Scotland. Along with a variety of facilities on the esplanade Troon has an amazing seven golf courses, including the famous Royal Troon which regularly hosts the Open Championships. Ayrshire is also the gateway to some of Scotland’s finest Islands and this holiday includes visits to the Isle of Arran with its rugged and mountainous scenery, plus the quaint villages, lochs and sandy bays of the picturesque Isle of Bute.

0ban is one of Scotland’s most popular holiday resorts, situated in a lovely sheltered bay in the Western Highlands. Victorian Villas, hotels and shops line the lovely curved esplanade and harbour. There are many interesting shops to explore including the Caithness Glass showrooms, plus Oban Distillery and the World in Miniature.
