History is written into the narrow cobbled streets of Durham, nestling on the banks of the River Wear and regarded as one of the most attractive cities in Britain. The panoramic view of the Cathedral and Castle has been described as ‘one of the finest architectural experiences of Europe’ and together they are now designated a World Heritage Site. The craggy fells, peaceful lakes and serenity of the English Lake District has been an inspiration to artists, poets and novelists for centuries and never ceases to charm with changing views around every corner.
