The Magical Glacier Express

Check Availability

A superb Swiss Alpine holiday that includes a journey through the spectacular mountain region on board the world famous Glacier Express, probably the slowest “express” train ride in the world. A journey of unchallenged beauty with stunning views that simply cannot be seen from the road. We stay in two beautiful locations, firstly the alpine resort of Davos, Europe's largest mountain resort with a beautiful natural landscape, then on to Zermatt, a delightful resort with stunning views of the world famous Matterhorn. Zermatt is a real delight, enjoy the pure mountain air in this traffic-free environment where only electric powered vehicles are allowed.

ITINERARY
  • Day One: Early departure to Folkestone for a journey through the Eurotunnel and on to our overnight hotel in the Champagne city of Reims.
  • Day Two: We journey on into Switzerland and the popular ski resort of Davos, the highest and largest alpine resort in Europe. We then check in to the Central Sporthotel where we stay for the next three nights.
  • Day Three: A day at leisure to relax and explore Davos, located right in the heart of the Alps and surrounded on all sides by wonderful scenery. Perhaps take a cable car ride into the mountains, local buses and cable cars are free of charge to visitors during the summer.
  • Day Four: An excursion to St.Moritz, one of the most renowned holiday resorts in the world. Chic, elegant and exclusive with a cosmopolitan ambience, located 1800m above sea level, in the Upper Engadine.
  • Day Five: The highlight of the holiday today – our coach will journey on alone as we depart on the famous Glacier Express and amble through ever changing scenery traversing mountains and valleys to reach our destination at Zermatt. On arrival you will be transferred to the Park Hotel by electric car.
  • Day Six: Spend a day in this lovely traffic free resort, overlooked by the mighty Matterhorn, an ideal spot for relaxing and admiring the views. Alternatively take a trip on the Gornegratt Mountain Railway for some spectacular views as it climbs to over 10,000ft.
  • Day Seven: Sadly we say farewell to Switzerland and head back into France for another overnight stay at Reims.
  • Day Eight: To Calais for a return Eurotunnel journey to Folkestone and home to North Wales.
