There is a fine sandy beach, a lovely palm lined promenade for that relaxing stroll, an international marina, plus waterfront boutiques and cafes that provide a distinct continental flavour. In the evenings Torquay becomes a kaleidoscope of colour when the promenade and gardens are all illuminated.

• Full day via the Dart Valley to visit Buckfast Abbey, then on to the city of Plymouth with attractions that include the famous Hoe, the Citadel and the Elizabethan Barbican with its quaint narrow cobbled streets where you can enjoy centuries of maritime tradition. (Jan, Feb & Mar only)
• Half day to the picturesque port of Dartmouth on the banks of the River Dart, famous for its naval college and old black & white buildings, plus as a film set for The Onedin Line. (5 day tours only)
