An new tour to the delightful Emerald Isle staying in and exploring two different beautiful regions of Ireland. The tour will show you some of Ireland’s finest coastal and country scenery with some interesting visits included. We travel first to County Mayo, often referred to as “Hidden Ireland”, then head south to stay in one of the country’s prettiest villages in the county of Limerick.
ITINERARY
- Day One: Early departure to Holyhead for the Stena HSS fast ferry sailing to Ireland. Continue via the Irish Lake District to Co. Mayo and the Downhill Hotel at Ballina where we stay for two nights.
- Day Two: An excursion along the North Mayo coast where a visit is included to Ceide Fields at Ballycastle, one of Europe’s most important prehistoric sites. Continue to Yeats Country to visit the delightful town of Sligo.
- Day Three: Travel south to Co.Clare and the wonderful scenery of the Burren National Park to see the spectacular Cliffs of Moher. Continue to the Woodlands House Hotel at Adare, near the city of Limerick, where we stay for three nights.
- Day Four: A visit to the Flying Boat Museum at Foynes to see a full scale replica of the Boeing 314, "Yankee Clipper", the first aircraft to operate a commercial passenger flight on a direct route from the USA to Europe. This is also the location where Irish coffee was reputedly invented and a taster is included! Afternoon at leisure in Adare or an optional visit to Bunratty Castle & Folk Park.
- Day Five: Today we visit the ancient city of Limerick, Ireland's third largest city which straddles the River Shannon. Guided walking tours are available to see the city’s attractions which include King John’s Castle, St Mary’s Cathedral and the Hunt Museum.
- Day Six: We leave Adare and head back to Dun Laoghaire for the late afternoon HSS sailing to Holyhead and home to North Wales.
